Tivo, What Happened?
Shame on you Tivo. Shame on you for resorting to obvious revenue streams like placing ads on my wonderful user interface. Tivo, you used to be the only company I was more proud of besides Apple. Now, you are just scrambling. You used to have great innovative ideas. Now, just short term ones.
You are caving to content holders, and have completely failed to capture a market waiting for its beautiful software. What went wrong Tivo? Is there anything I could have done. I preached the good word of 30 minute buffers and Seasons Passes. What else could I have done?
I'm disappointed. And come March, I'm going to be quite frustrated while being bludgeoned with advertising while my subscription rate stays the same and no new features come my way. Thanks Tivo. Thanks for using me as a revenue stream. Thanks for nothing.
Not flaming you, but you should keep in mind that all you have ever been to TiVo is a revenue stream, and they (TiVo) have decided to maximize your value (capitalism has flaws). You do however have options, MythTV is one, but it does require that you build it yourself from an old computer and get a little comfortable with linux (Ubuntu seems to be making it much easier) anyway, I stripped the HDD out of my TiVo and ran over the remains with my pickup, formatted the HDD and will be using it for my new MythTV box that I’ll build this summer when I have time.
Cheers,
Rob
