Certificate of Non Conformity
Since the non Apple users were the exception this weekend, for once, people were handing out certificates of non conformity at RailsConf. It was hillarious.
Here’s a great photoset of all the non conformists.
Theres 39 people in it. Remember there was about 550-650 people at RailsConf 2006. Depending on how many people didn’t show up or just crashed the party. Maybe my original calculations were wrong.. thats gotta be like 99%.
Seriously.. it was hard to find any PC laptops there.
You missed one.

I think there are more pics coming. I had my picture taken but its not one of the 39 up already. The percentage of Macs was definitely up there but not quite 99%, I’d put it between 90% and 95%. Although technically according to Paul Graham’s keynote we non-Mac-ers would be the marginal of the marginal, I’m not sure the analogy can be taken to such an extreme. I would much rather have been in the majority in this case.

Yes, I was going to comment that most of the people on PC’s would probably have rather been on Macs, but I thought that’d of been a bit much.
Developing Rails on Os X does make for a happier programmer though. Even if you don’t like Os X, having a POSIX operating system just make everything go smoother. Be it setting up the environment or using capistrano.

I’m glad I don’t have a Mac. Apparently why is too. Does that make us the margin of the margin of the margin?
(I’m too much a fan of window managers that don’t suck, not being forced to learn C to hack the UI, and light laptops to switch.)

Interesting, those are the same reason I use Os X

I always have terrible trouble with comment-related plugins that require me to put some line in the comment loop; I can never seem to find the right spot. Can anyone tell me where I should put the php line in my comments loop? I haven not modified anything much, and I would be very grateful. Thanks!
