Cory posted a great timeline of the events surrounding Sony’s rootkit. This has been incredible to watch unfold. Every single day something new and more embarassing for Sony has been reported. If you don’t know about it, or have had trouble following it, check out the timeline at boingboing.

To follow up on this, the EFF has written Sony an open letter giving them until Friday November 18th to fulfill some demands, a full boycott has been called against Sony until they right their wrongs, and its been revealed that Sony has included the LAME encoder in their software on the cds, breaking an international software license, the LGPL showing the extent of Sony’s respect for intellectual property.

This is a huge deal and shouldn’t be shrugged off for a second.This is the kind of stuff that WILL keep happening as long as no one does anything about it. These mega-corps will do whatever they can. Your power is in your wallet. Vote them out.
