Flock
I know this isn’t very new. But it may be new to you. I want to get the word out, because this project has a ton of potential. They’re creating a new browser (god who needs another one!!) that is going to be your central dashboard to “Web 2.0″ applications, as they’re all being labeled these days. Sites like flickr, Del.icio.us, Blogger, Digg, have placed community at the head of the table, as well as the user’s ability to control the content. Posting your own pictures, links, and news stories and then sharing them is an important motif of the current web in my opinion, and I think its only going to grow.
All that said, what Flock plans on doing is creating a browser that lets you interact with all of these social networking sites (oh oh! another buzzword!) using embedded tools. So instead of just browsing you will be interacting with the web directly. Its pretty exciting and I can’t wait to check it out.
So if you’re a user of flickr or any other sites that it supports, check out it out. They finally posted screenshots! Oh, and on flickr of course.
Is it just me, or does the Flock brand look a lot like the firefox brand - I wonder if Hicks was behind this one too?
