AcidSearch
Glorious days, I have my power searching back again! Since Tiger’s release, I’ve been without my favorite plugin to Safari, SafariKeywords. Its become obvious that the guy supporting that application won’t be updating it anytime soon. Who cares, because I just came across an even better solution, AcidSearch.
For only being version 0.41 its extremely well rounded. It comes as an installer and plugs right into Safari for you. You access it by clicking on the Google bar in Safari. The screen shot is pretty self explanatory, it hosts multiple searches for you. But what’s even better is that it supports keyword searching! WOOT! This is one of my favorite power user tools. Instead of choosing my search, i just type in a keyword preceding my search terms, and voila. It goes to that site and searches!
So by typing: i land rover into the Google bar, my search will be carried out by Google Images. I have tons of sites set up and its extremely convenient and fast. Some of the sites i have set are Ebay, php.org, Technorati, Macupdate, Google News, Google Images, Amazon, etc.
I HIGHLY suggest downloading this free app. Its like LaunchBar, you’ll wonder what you ever did without it, and never want to give it up.
Disclaimer: Yes, I know that Mozilla browsers have had this forever, but theres just something about having to use search keywords in the ADDRESS bar when there is a perfectly good SEARCH bar directly to the right of it. Call me picky but that’s just not what I call usability. Its stupid.
