Redirect Your MT Monthly Archives To WordPress
Moving to WordPress from MovableType was a no brainer. One thing keeping me from doing it was my Google indexing. I didn’t want to loose all my indexed posts on Google and have everyone go to 404 pages. Using Alex King’s awesome MT Entry redirect template solved the problem perfectly.
By replacing the old Individual Entry template with his script, not only will it redirect the user to the correct post in WordPress, but it will notify the search engine using a 301 error that the page has been permanently moved. So after a few months, everything will be redirected permanently.
Problem solved. But what about Monthly Archive pages. Well, I went ahead and modified Alex’s template to fix that too and its working great. It takes the data of the monthly archive and redirects the user to the WordPress monthly archive as well as using the 301 error to tell the search engine that its been moved permanently.
The script is available here. Thanks again Alex.
Great
