I’m Still Alive
Yah yah yah. I haven't posted in a long time. I've been working on my new Xbox Media Center news weblog as well as just living my crazy life and enjoying my time off from school. I've been modding Xboxs like crazy it seems. And doing a million other little projects.
I thought I'd take a minute to go over some of the stuff I've been doing.
Xbmc: I've been hacking away to keep my Xbmc up to date and looking good. I updated my Xbmc Gallery. Check out some of the add on scripts at the bottom for online content. Xbmc truly is one of the greatest applications available today.
Xbmc + Tivo: I finally hacked my stand alone series 2 Tivo to allow me to stream my shows off of my Tivo as well as add in hacks and a TivoWeb Plus which allows me to control my Tivo from the web. The exciting thing about what I've done is that I can now use my Xbox to view the content directly off of my Tivo thanks to the Tivo script I added to Xbmc. You can see how this all works in my Xbmc gallery. Its pretty sick stuff. I now have an Xbox and Tivo downstairs and an Xbox in my bedroom. The two Xboxs connect to my media server, which is just a Dell PC that has tons of storage for all my Tv shows, seasons, and Movies. This allows my content to be central to both Xboxs, so the content can be viewed in both places at the same time. All this, and now my Xbox upstairs in the bedroom can watch my Tivo content from downstairs. Its a pretty sick setup I must admit, heheh.
BlackBerry: I finally got rid of Sprint and picked up the new Blackbery 7100t from T-Mobile. First off, this phone is amazing. The messaging that BlackBerrys provide is rock solid. Its the most connected phone I've ever used. The best part is that it was able to sync with my Mac using PocketMac for BlackBerry. This thing is just fun. Its not too bulky for a smart phone, its connectivity is amazing, its messaging is great, its browser is perfectly capable, and its predictive text is almost perfect. For $200 after rebate, its a great deal too!
Macworld: All I can say is whoa. Steve really blew everyone away with his announcements. The Mac mini , iLife '05, iWork, and the iPod Shuffle. I can't wait to get my hands on some of this stuff. mmmmm….tasty.
iPod Shuffle: Speaking of the iPod Shuffle, my name is on one at the Apple Store right now. I'm waiting for the 1 gig version to come in, and its mine!!! I can't wait to get it. I'm gonna use it as my “on the go” iPod, since its so easy to fill with my IBook. No cable, just plug it in. It will also serve as my USB key drive on campus. I have a 15 gig 3G iPod already, but to me these are different beasts. The shuffle will be great for just tossing into my truck when I'm going up to the store and back. My iPod is great for parties, road trips, and traveling, but when I'm just on a short trip to the store, its a bit clunky to have to carry around and plug in and take out of my truck. We'll see how it is, so far its getting rave reviews!
good
