I've been thinking about the whole Podcasting medium a lot lately and ideas are swarming. My thoughts were on making the whole thing/experience easier.I had the idea/wishful thought of Apple iTunes 5.0 supporting Podcasting directly. Think about it, Safari 2.0 is dubbed Safari RSS. Apple has already shown its support and acknowledgment for RSS. The tech is already there inside of Safari 2.0 and could be dropped into iTunes 5.0 very easily. Apple needs something new and fresh to put into iTunes 5.0 and this just might be it.

Think about it, right under radio, shared music, and store, there could be a Podcasts section. iTunes could take care of the aggregating, thus eliminating an entire step/application in the medium. This is something Apple is great at, pushing new tech while making it easier and available for the masses. Something like this could be enormous to the Podcasting community. And for Apple.

Maybe this has already been mentioned, if so let me know. Another option is an iTunes plugin. Apple has a pretty decent API available for iTunes plugins, its a surprise that it isn't used for anything other than downloading music from other libraries and iPods.
