I'm not gonna make this a long one, I just wanted to spread the good word of 69 year old Orrin Hatch. He is endorsing the act of damaging users' computers that download illegal music.

“If that's the only way, then I'm all for destroying their machines.”

The Senator is coming on a bit strong, and this whole idea is ludicrous. Where would this stop? What's next, chop off a shoplifter's hand. The precedents being set in court these days are just getting worse and worse. This is only the dawn of the digital age, to exploit an over used term. The things we do now, and the laws we enact will affect what is created and made available to the rest of the world in the next 40 years.

But ol' Orrin seems to think that we can just destroy thousands of dollars of other peoples' property. I can't wait for the next time I get pulled over by a Trooper and get my windshield smashed in. Hatch really needs to realize where these pirates are stealing from, and it ain't the local town's hardware store. Its a slimy, outdated, and extremely crooked industry that just got ordered to make payouts to over 3.5 million customers for illegal activity. The piracy needs to be curbed, but certainly not by threats from a media industry that is out for nothing but to save its income.

Exactly how is this software going to work? From what I can read, the only way it would work is to monitor my network traffic 24 hours a day. It would have to watch and analyze everything i'm bringing into my computer. Hell, while its being read, why not log it? We'll just keep all this info in a safe place for later, sure why not. You never know what we could do with that data down the line. I'll be damned if I sit idly while everything I do on the Internet is watched.
