The Tax Man Cometh
This sucks. My first whole year with a real job and I owe taxes. I don't own a goddamn thing, and this happens.

You need not file or pay taxes.
Dear Jon:
Hello. I am Joseph Almond, 49, and I live in Muskegon, Michigan, USA.
Recently I saw a photo of a woman, Rose Lear, 49, (also from my home town) as she was in her 28th day of a fast unto death. She was protesting the incarceration of her husband, William Lear, for “failure to file” tax returns.
She has aborted her fast, three days after my letter put the heat onto our Congressman, Peter Hoekstra, (R-MI).
When I saw her photo, showing the bony contour through her sweater, her sunken eyes and her drooping head (from weariness), it made my blood boil.
I wrote to my congressman to protest and to demand action on his part. I asked him to call me, as I only get a machine when I called his office. My letter went up onto the net.
This caused a stir, and people responded from all over the USA. Many folks contributed money to assist me with a project to leaflet the USA in May.
NOTE: The good Congressman never contacted me, and I have since stewed over this nonsense (the IRS, the complex tax code and the futility of the average American for relief) and now, I have decided to strike a blow to the American government via 500,000 flyers. These will be printed in 2 weeks. Then, I will distribute them into 7,642 truckstops in America.
The average truckstop has over 400 truck drivers a day stop in, take a leak and grab a bite to eat. While there, they may see these flyers in the lounge area, over urinals and in the many phone booths.
It will cost me all of my personal savings to print and distribute them, but I feel it is well worth it.
The flyer is designed to wake up the reader. We are doomed if apathetic much longer.
Americans are oppressed by the very government that is out “saving the world” from dictators, thugs and terrorists.
Yet, at the very same time, the American government extorts funds from hard working people using threats, intimidation and liens upon their property…if one dares to ignore the (twisted) laws which are completely unconstitutional.
The flyer will warn my fellow truckers of the coming Police State, RFID, the VeriChip and the need to rise up and resist the wretched political hypocrites before it is too late.
They will seek to make us as cattle: Numbered, marked, “chipped” and in total control…for their benefit and whim. Everywhere nowadays we see cameras being installed. Next will come hidden microphones, offers of rewards to those who snitch on their neighbors, etc.
The flyer is shockingly blunt. I have polished it further, but I send you the 3rd rough draft. It will be finished by the 19th of April and will be sent to the press on the 20th.
I am a truckdriver. I hear the gripes of many other drivers as they are harassed by the weigh stations, cops and ridiculous laws that are designed and enforced SOLELY FOR REVENUE.
I have had enough. Its revolt time. The flyers will be passed out beginning May 1, 2003, by me alone.
The government thinks that one man is nothing to fear.
They won’t think this for long!
I am one man because that is sufficient.
I pity the government workers. They are about to reap what they so well deserve: a rude awakening of an angry public.
Please let me know if you desire more background to form an opinion before I begin this nationwide campaign.
The American press has a vested interest in the status quo, and so, will certainly not dare inform the public of this leafleting which is my attempt to free America from her parasitical “servants” on the Potomac.

Stumbled on your site. Finished reading Mr. Almond’s posting above.
Contrary to his first sentence, I believe that you DO have to file and pay taxes. The Constitution permits the levy and collection of taxes under Amendment XVI (ratified 1913). So, I don’t understand what his problem is?
Secondly, I don’t understand his rant about revenue collection. Taxes are needed to pay for libraries, fire protection, roads and sewers, schools, as well as social services. Does he feel that these services are not worthy of his tax dollars? Rather than leafletting truck stops with “all of his personal savings”, maybe he should devote it to his fund for buying his own island to live his life in “freedom” from the VeriChip.
While everyone is entitled to their opinion, Mr. Almond leaves me with the impression that he is less concerned with personal freedom than with feeling persecuted by members of the International Zionist conspiracy. I think Mr. Almond should avail himself of any free public counseling services in Muskegon, MI with haste.
