MSN FUCKS Opera
It seems that Microsoft's portal site is deliberately sending broken style sheets to Opera 7.0 users. This short study shows that MSN is detecting that the user is using the Opera 7.0 browser, and then sends it code that will make sure that Opera renders the page incorrectly. This will immediatly make the browser look bad and the user believe that it is Opera's fault. This does not happen for Opera's 6.0 browser and the study goes on to explain why this is a deliberate jab at the Opera 7.0 browser. Now, I'm no fan of Opera, but if this isn't an example of anti-competitive behaviour then I don't know what is.
I read about this on a Linux news site the other day. Seems like a crock of shit, but I can’t figure out why they singled out Opera. I personally don’t know a soul who runs Opera as their everyday browser. From the examples given, however, it is obvious that they have done it. Microsoft has a history of using unethical tactics to gain a competetive edge in the software market, and I have sworn off anything made by them. This is just one reason why…

Oh yeah, I have a suggestion for this site. It would be nice to be able to sign up for a mailing list to be notified when the site is updated. Either that or a .rdf feed for my ticker. :)
