We pay for what?
We had our first winter storm of the year last night and subsequently left me scraping though ice to even GET to the snow. That was a treat. I finally get on the road and was impressed by how clean the roads were, usually we get an inch and the city shuts down. So I finally get to work and am about to pull into the buildings parking lot, which is owned by a seperate company Standard Parking. This place is a joke, our company pays $50 an employee to park in this lot and half the time I get there and its already full from hourly parkers. So I, the guy they already got their money from, have to go find a spot somewhere else.
Anyways, I get to the lot and I'm about to pull in, and what do I see, the lot is completely covered in snow, I mean covered, theres no way I could have gotten my tough Ford Taurus in and out of it without trouble, this is at 10 am mind you. I estimate that 90 cars can park there with a full lot, thats $4500 a month for a 4 acre lot of asphault. With all that money, they can't get a guy out at 7 am to plow the lot? What does that cost, $150 bucks? I'm sure there were guys with plows on their trucks already down there making a quick buck. I saw other lots plowed, why not this one. My company pays a lot of money for parking passes for its employees. Whats the overhead on a parking lot these days. the mortgage for the land!? These guys don't have to do anything else, the least they could do is have our lot plowed for us when we get there.
I have complained to these people on different occasions, and nothing usually gets done about it, they own about 70% of the parking lots in the city so they don't have to do anything the way they see it. This is rediculous, its just another company that doesn't care about its customers, because its customers have no other choice. I did notice while waiting to complain, that they will rent out videos and audio books to its customers. I'm not really sure what that's all about.
UPDATE: It has come to my attention that the parking spots cost $100 per month rather than $50. This in itself is highway robbery. So now take the number they pull in per month to $9000. Where is my snow plow? For $1200 a year, I want a guy helping me out of my car in the snow.
I think those ****faces at Standard Parking should have all their parking meters pulled out of the ground and shoved up their *****!
